This is a great read and deep dive into the man behind some of the greatest recording artists of the last 70 years : Ray Charles , Aretha Franklin , Cream , Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones - to name just a few.

Son of a Turkish diplomat - Ahmet -and Herb Abramson founded Atlantic in 1947 - a dream team that included Tom Dowd- legendary audio engineer and designer-plus much more..in fact I need to do a feature just on his accomplishments!
Later Jerry Wexler -music journalist turned music producer joined.
The label had business acumen and could perceive emerging musical trends and be in sync with the times.
Brother Nesuhi Ertegun completed the team as producer.

The book reveals the many phases of Atlantic - from early jazz and jump blues with Ruth Brown in the 50’s ,via the golden period with Aretha Franklin in mid 60’s , Cream , CSNY and Led Zeppelin in the late 60’s into the 70’s.

Author Robert Greenfield is a respected writer and associate editor for Rolling Stone magazine and writes primarily on pop culture.

The book has a great pace and written with clarity.
Humorous anecdotes include the great Ray Charles calling Ahmet omelet in the early days!
This is a great look at an amazing individual who helped shape late twentieth century music culture.
