This recent novel by Julie Clark is extremely well written and paced.

Essentially two women trying to escape their lives , disappear and have new identities.

Both from very different backgrounds-the two characters are compared and contrasted: a senators wife (Claire) and a lady involved in the drug trade that she cannot escape from (Eva).

However, despite their socio-economic differences they are still trapped by the same controlling spiral of the people around them.

The writing style is clear and you feel you really know how these characters are feeling.

The descriptions of Claire having computer access and monitoring her controlling husbands messages when she disappears -is a nice contemporary twist to the digital footprint that we all leave.

That scenario adds to an already fearful exit  of Claire transitioning to a new identity.

Highly recommended!
