Before Aretha and Etta there was Dinah Washington - setting a standard for emotive singing and encompassing blues , jazz and 50’s pop.

This album comprises individual tunes and duets- and showcases the chemistry between the two artists with the duets in particular.
"Baby (You've Got What It Takes)” is a standout tune and was a hit - with the apparent ease in the performance -and the singers trading lines as the tune swings along.
“There Goes My Heart” is a Dina solo track and the plaintive delivery and emotion in her delivery is another high point.
No doubt Aretha and Etta and everyone who followed in the 60’s were taking notes.
A lovely album and a window to an earlier simpler time.
