Noah Hurowitz really did a great job in this well researched book about El Chapo.

The illuminating facts are : the context of the start of an illegal drug trade in the first place- and the socio-economic and political history of the region El Chapo hails from : Sinaloa, Mexico.

This fierce independent spirit birthed the cartels and the subsequent drug trade.

The inability of successive Mexican government policy to curtail the illicit activities actually inflamed and expanded the situation.

Its all in here in fascinating detail right up to El Chapo’s eventual capture by tracking GPS and Blackberry phone usage.

The added historical context really added to the book and is to be applauded.

Highly recommended - a great read!
