Released in 1971 this album really solidified Marc Bolans glam rock status - by moving away from the more whimsical folk stylings and to a more stripped down, riff-laden rock style.
Number one in the UK album chart - the strong original songs and singles -particular “Get It On” ,”Jeepster" and “Cosmic Dancer” -propelled this album into the public consciousness.
In the US the album achieved gold album RIAA status with sales over 500,000.

The strength and diversity of the songs really stand out - with elements of the introspective pastoral folk side “Cosmic Dancer” - all the way to the rockers.
In some ways this one album nails the classic T Rex sound with a consistently high standard of songwriting.
The album was well received by the critics and influenced generations of future artists such as : Paul Weller / Spandau Ballet / PJ Harvey / The Cure etc.
Produced by Tony Visconti - various techniques were used in the studio to craft the sound including overloading the mic preamps by direct injecting guitars into the mixing board.
In fact we should mention Marc Bolans amp of choice at the time - the ultra rare Vampower which (love them or hate them!) added to the unique Bolan fuzz guitar sound.
Songs from this album have been used over the years in movies - notably “Cosmic Dancer” in the 2000 movie “Billy Elliot” - which again shows the enduring quality and prescient subject matter of the songs.
