“Landman” currently on Paramount Plus is a contemporary look at Texas oilfield life.
Its better and a welcome update to “Dallas” from 40 years ago - no doubt about that.
It reminded me of “Breaking Bad” in the Texas oilfields - and therefore it was highly entertaining - though slightly improbable.
The interactions with the cartels and drug gangs were captivating-but whether true to normal oilfield operations is debatable.
The pro oil business stance was quite a surprise (and explicit)- with alternative energy options written off very quickly.
Maybe it was just the conservative views of the script - but it did show the reality ,as the young female company attorney puts her environmental beliefs aside -and opts for job security by staying with big oil - at least till it runs out.
Its well worth a watch - there’s humor in all the characters and is well paced.
