Equally impressive is the technique and production values this 25 year old artist has amassed and presented to the world.
She has even received praise from Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Mei is hard to pigeon hole in an exact genre and that’s the point - her sound and compositions are unique to her.
She studied music at Berklee College of Music and her work feature bilingual lyrics in English and Japanese - that represent her background.
My personal favorites are her bossanova influenced songs - for example “Dumb Feeling” from her “Animaru” EP.
Currently based in New York, she tours the US , Europe and Japan.
