Huge in the UK - her breakout hit was guesting with the Crusaders on 1979’s “Street Life”.
That song seemed to be everywhere that year, with her plaintive soulful R&B vocal soaring above the majestic soul jazz musicianship of the Crusaders and Joe Sample.
Fast forward a couple of years we have “Secret Combination” LP with more soul magic and songs such as “You Might Need Somebody” and “Rainy Night in Georgia”.
It seemed she could tackle a wide range of genres but still inject her plaintive intensity into the vocal to really make the songs memorable.

After all these years, these are sonic high points that can magically transport you back to an earlier time.
Born in Macon Georgia in 1952 - Randy started her career in the mid 70’s guesting with jazz greats George Benson and Cannonball Adderley.
She also worked with Quincy Jones, Al Jarreau ,Bootsy Collins and Rick Springfield.
