Comprising of four brothers from the Mississippi Gulf coast - The Skitch is a high energy and entertaining band with a great sense of humor and vibe.
Truly a band of brothers!
Their original sound is an amalgam of edgy roots reggae and ska with rockabilly and blues thrown in too.
When they do a cover song it can be unusual - for example when I saw them, they covered a pre Beatles tune “In Spite of All The Danger” by The Quarrymen. This Doo-wop inspired tune was written by McCartney–Harrison in 1958 - with lovely harmony vocals by The Skitch that did the original justice - but also showed how nothing beats the sound of four siblings harmonizing on a vocal.

The Skitch are:
Jesse James bass/vocals
Judah James guitar/vocals
Asher James drums/vocals
Grayson James guitar/vocals

Their influences are varied and classic with each member bringing their own tastes and styles and as a result this makes the band sound varied and interesting- as an array of musical genres are represented.
They describe it best:
"We all started playing instruments and singing during our youth during the ska punk era of the 2000s.
Jesse is the oldest who was in love with protest acts such as the Sex Pistols and Bob Marley. He started playing bass because no one else wanted to ! …and was heavily influenced by Glen Matlock (The Sex Pistols) and Aston “Family Man” Barrett (Bob Marley and The Wailers).
Asher is the drummer and he began practicing to Travis Barker (Blink182) and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) at a young age in order to play in church groups and hardcore bands.
Judah started out playin’ John Mayer to impress the ladies but later switched to Robert Johnson to impress the musicians!!
He loves him some Gary Clark Jr. and Jimi Hendrix.
Greyson is the best musician in the group simply because he picked up guitar at a very young age. He loves 311, Incubus and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.”
They have played many venues around the South including many times at the world famous Guesthouse at Graceland in Memphis.
They are recording a new album of their own material ,writing in the reggae rock groove style
Regarding their writing process - they describe it best:
“One member brings a song in pretty much completed and the band works it out and makes it playable..usually.
Jesse and Judah are main writers but Asher is a vocal line master while Grayson writes all the solos on the spot.”
Their original music is on every major streaming platform.
