Tikyra is a singer-songwriter, musician, and visual artist native to Memphis, TN.
Growing up she was surrounded by soul and gospel music and both her parents were preachers and musicians themselves.

As well as being the ferocious young drummer and vocalist for Grammy nominated artist Southern Avenue, she is making a wave with her own funk-driven grooves and compositions.
She also paints and has her art available for sale, either as canvas prints or reproduced on merchandise.

Her art reflects her way of looking at the world and brings a positive spirit.
Tikyra sums it up as follows:
“I have always believed that the power of the mind is grand enough to change anyone's reality to their liking.”
Her music with the infectious grooves and profound lyrics makes you listen - and her art with the vibrant beach scenes with her rhythmic passion - the drums - makes you relax and soak up the colors.

When asked what her inspiration is ,Tikyra puts it like this:
“My journey within music has led me to see and experience the world and it's anomalies in such a way, that I feel I must pass along the knowledge and love gained, through my own art and musical expression.
I’m currently working on a new form of Art and Music consumption that re-establishes meaningful interactions between people, and the world we live in through revolutionary entertainment.”

In her music she writes with integrity and honesty - and on her track “No More Fear” she sings:
“No more fear, no oppression
Choose your side or your weapon
No more peace till you bring mine”
It’s an extremely catchy track with the alliteration of the lyrics in the melody - really driving the song home with a Curtis Mayfield vibe in there.
She plays all the instruments as well -which is even more impressive.
Her music is socially conscious and powerful and I’m excited to hear new Tikyra music and see new art - as she advances in her creative career and gets more recognition for her original work.
