In the late 60’s and early 70’s I remember seeing the great pianist and comedian Victor Borge (1909-2000) perform on various British TV shows.

His routine would include playing an unusual tune on the piano with hints of the correct piece - then turn the music upside down and play a beautiful classical piece correctly - with a wry smile and facial expressions that would bring the house down!
He would also morph a classical piece from Beethoven into a jazz tune by Cole Porter.
He was Danish by birth - but escaped to the USA in 1940 to avoid German occupation during WW2.
He was a popular performer in TV and film from the 40’s - and toured and conducted major orchestras extensively throughout his life.
He was decorated at the Kennedy Center Honors in 1999 - as well as honors from the Nordic countries (Denmark,Norway and Finland).
Go check out the great Victor Borge - a unique original talent who turned millions on to the beauty of classical music and jazz and pop standards - but in his own infectious humorous way that pulled audiences in!
